Schools cycling is making great strides encouraging both primary and high schools to compete in The Cycle Lab KZN Schools Cycling Competition.
Schools cycling is making great strides encouraging all school aged riders in Primary and High Schools, and home schooled to compete in The Cycle Lab Schools MTB Series
The competition takes place in the third term annually and promotes both inter school and individual competition.
The most successful participants (in both primary and high school) are eligible to be selected to represent their schools and provinces at a national inter schools final and a national inter provincial final. To qualify for provincial colours, participants must be selected and must represent the province at the national final.
The format that has been adopted is XCO style lap racing on tracks at school premises. The racing is fast and fun, with varied technical levels based on age category. Because the races are on school properties, they take place in controlled and safe environments.
Only mountain bikes are permitted to take part in the series, including single speed bikes.
