The Cycle Lab KZN Schools MTB Series is a series of 4 races that take place annually in the 3rd term.
The events cater for all kids that are able to ride bicycles. The events are safe because they are held within school properties on non-technical tracks comprising laps that are suitable for the different age categories.
Due to the races being mostly flat and fast, there is competitive racing which is a lot of fun for both competitors and spectators. This year the races were held at Maritzburg College, Curro Salt Rock, Howick High School and Waterfall College. The schools also compete to create the most exhilarating tracks. At the end of the series, we conduct a survey and recognise the best event based on : The track, the set-up, catering facilities and ablutions.
Riders are allocated points determined by their respective finishing positions, which are added together at the end of the series, to determine the series winner and the winning school.
The best riders in the province are selected to compete at an inter-schools and inter-provincial competition. The high school event is taking place at Wagpos, Skool in Brits. While the primary school competition is being held at Bergsig Perdegat in Harrismith.
