The development rollout plan is always but and the last two months has been no different. The district racing events programme came to a close in this time and saw thousands of youngsters across the province competing against their peers to see who the best riders in each district are – great excitement, great effort and much fun was had by all. The capacity building programme has also been going full steam ahead and apart from the district courses, the first Advanced Bike Technician course was held with eleven attendees selected from previous courses to be part of the group. The course was designed to train the candidates to be able to employable in bike shops or even to create their own bike maintenance businesses in their communities and the opportunity was grasped by both hands by all concerned and we look forward to seeing their progress in the industry. The various commissions have been having their annual awards functions and riders from the programme have featured heavily in the prizes due to their consistently good performances and some standout awards were Lihle Ngidi named as the Most Improved Cross Country rider of the Year at the MTB function and Thabiso Zindela was awarded his provincial colours on the track. It was great to see all the youngsters being acknowledged for the hard work they have put into the sport this year.
